The research activity of the department covers many areas of theoretical and applied mathematics, including: analysis, harmonic analysis, logic, complexity theory, number theory, cryptography, commutative algebra, algebraic geometry, topology, differential equations, dynamical systems, partial differential equations, numerical analysis, computational geometry, wave propagation, and mathematical modeling. Members of the department participate in research projects with national and/or European competitive funding, and the department as a whole has a strong tradition of international research collaborations.
